GGV Initiation 2018
Last Saturday, I had an opportunity to take 6 girls to their first global simulation experience. They got a chance to see what it was like to live in different parts of the world (The Slums, Tibet, The Appalachian Mountains, the Streets of LA, Zambia, Guatemala, Refugee Camps, and Thailand). They had to make and find their own food, fetch water, and work with others to survive the night in their assigned nation. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get their fire going properly so they didn’t eat. As a chaperone, I was assigned to be a 2-year-old so I couldn’t help them in any way. One of my young ladies was given a water balloon w/ carrier and deemed pregnant. Another student was given sickness and couldn’t be of much help to the group.
They were assigned to
Thailand but, were forced out by German soldiers in the middle of the night. They couldn’t take anything with them. No sleeping bags, no water, personal belongings, pots, pans, medication, etc. They were forced out with whatever they had on their backs. Most of the girls were barefoot as they were caught by surprise while sleeping. This happens to people all over the world in real life from war, natural disasters, etc. The refugee camp was hard living and the girls didn’t sleep. When morning came they were exhausted and hungry. They didn’t have breakfast as there was no food, water, pots, pans, etc. to even cook with…It was all abandoned in
Thailand. Oh, did I mention that all cell phones were taken
️. So, there was no calling home or use of the internet for help.
At 8 am, they were assigned to feed all the barn animals and milk the goats. There were no showers or water to bathe, so we drove all the way back to Dallas stinky, sticky and sweaty. We were forced to pack into my suv with all our luggage as a friend of mine canceled as a chaperone and driver! We made it work
. So, let’s just say the ladies of Global Girl Voyagers have a newly found respect and appreciation for girls just like them that live different lives all over the world. #GlobalGirlVoyagers #Thesegrilswillbegreat #lankfordlifecoaching #workinginmycalling
